Thomas is Lise Hohenstein’s father, from East Berlin. One of Theodor dead father’s distant relatives, he adopted him from an abusive orphanage. Thomas founded Theatergruppe Straße as a director in 1966, and slowly gained popularity for works such as “Erinnerungen eines Mädchens” and was eventually being placed in the newspaper for "Mond-Regenbogen" in 1978, a controversial play viewed as anti-nationalistic.
